Hanging at Osho Prison Ends Murders Convictions
Sagasta and Yoshida paid the penalty for murders on the Osho prison gallows shortly after 10 in the morning. Doctors attended as the drop broke their necks, with minor signs of struggle. Reverend Kilien led prayers, and captains and guards stood by as the trap fell. Both died on impact, Yoshida before moving, within minutes the bodies were placed in coffins. Witnesses included prison officials and reporters. The crimes were committed on Maat Island last summer, Sagasta killed his wife and child, Yoshida the wife of a friend. They died Christians, baptized weeks earlier, with the hanging proceeding without incident.
