An 19th century style advertisement touts Ayer s Sarsaparilla as a universal blood purifier and tonic. It claims to treat scrofula boils ulcers and all disorders from impure blood while aiding digestion liver strength nerves and general debility. Physicians are said to endorse it as the best and most in demand preparation.
The morning session covered libel case actions in J. E. Gomes vs Hawaiian Gazette Co and other filings. Judge Perry granted dismissal with right to reinstate and ordered $32 witnesses’ fees and $83 attorney fees. Bankruptcy for W. S. Bartlett noted with household allowance up to 300. Proceedings involved Dr. J. H. Raymond and trustees ordered to pay court costs and counsel fees from O. L. Carter estate, totaling 25.75 and 8500 respectively, with the Carter estate valued at 42,711.91.

An exhausted fisherman named Kailimai, about 70, clung to a calabash after a canoe swamped by a huge wave. The steamer Kaala sighted the man, a boat was lowered, and he was towed to port aboard the steamer. He wore a shirt, undershirt, and a big hat.
In a late night rumor a Rio Janeiro report claimed hostilities had begun between England and Russia over the Greek question. The report was not substantiated and no concrete action followed.

Now Whiot Moat of W. Ingate Balls is constructing a 36 foot long whaleboat in Hotel Street Honolulu for pilots. The spruce hull features closely spaced ribs and watertight seams battened inside. Five or six oars will power a swift craft with room for a large sail spread when needed.
Reader asks how the Citizens' Guard fund of $10 is being used to purchase a monument for Chow L Carter and whether the effort will similar to the Kalakaua Monument Association. Payment was made to Mr Lightfoot, Crizuxe’ Guanp.
