An exhausted fisherman named Kailimai, about 70, clung to a calabash after a canoe swamped by a huge wave. The steamer Kaala sighted the man, a boat was lowered, and he was towed to port aboard the steamer. He wore a shirt, undershirt, and a big hat.

In a sale note W. Jordan reports prices for corsets and shirt waists fall sharply. Thompson’s glove fitting corsets once four dollars are now 50 cents per pair. P. D. goods drop from 8.50 to 1.60 each while corsets go to 25 cents. Shirt waists priced 40 cents and up as the store promotes cheap stock.

Whiot Moat Builds 36-Foot Honolulu Pilot Whaleboat

Now Whiot Moat of W. Ingate Balls is constructing a 36 foot long whaleboat in Hotel Street Honolulu for pilots. The spruce hull features closely spaced ribs and watertight seams battened inside. Five or six oars will power a swift craft with room for a large sail spread when needed.
