Mitchell Seeks Wages Garnishment in Steamship Case

In a United States District Court case a mariner named Mitchell seeks back wages from Interisland Company. He states he earned 290 a month on the steamer Mauna Loa since 1900 and was due 39 on January 17, 1900, but was refused part of his pay. The company cites a prior attachment order as justification. Public Must Pay For Trade Raises Chamber Funds

Trustees of the Chamber of Commerce were urged this afternoon to contribute more funds to a drive to boost subscriptions. A list of supporters was read but several members failed to respond. A local curio shop noted modest monthly contributions. Secretary H. P. Wood of the Promotion Committee reported healthy tourist spending, estimating monthly totals between £100,000 and $200,000 with potential increases next year.

Gehr Seeks Rights In Hammakunmiiteh Lands Case

Gehr petitions the Supreme Court claiming vested rights to lands water rights and rights of way under an agreement with the Territorial Government. He seeks to have the agreement or his copy substituted, and demands conveyance or full value, asserting readiness to perform while government delayed.
