A notice by Dr. Tucker states roosts will be routed from June 1 on Port and Berotana streets. The communication names Ulaat MBS and TURNER in connection with the action.
The Hawaii Senate debates wheel tires and road policy, with McCandless urging broader limits and Cooper urging road preservation. Bills on wine storage and public works advance through readings, amendments, and concurrences, while numerous budget items and salaries are approved, including court, education, and lighthouse expenses. Recess called to 1 30 p m.
The House approved on third reading a bill imposing duties on wine and sake. A Senate message announced passage of income tax and the deleterious land bill. The Senate did not concur with parts of the town bill including new market and road projects, and called for a conference committee. Minister Cooper, as Attorney General ad interim, answered questions from Rep. Robertson on freight charges and carrier discrimination. Two House bills passed second reading on titles and instrument recording. Rep. Robertson and Rep. Kamanoa proposed amendments and a temporary halt on new bills, adjourned at 11 10.
The Supreme Court in a May term ruling upheld the circuit in a wage case stemming from McDowell’s attempt to float the stranded steamer Mionera. It held no actual partnership existed with Wilson and Cockburn and that the loan arrangement did not imply partner liability, detailing the parties, sums, and decreed actions.
A complete corrected schedule for the present season shows each era playing three games against every other club for a total of eighteen. The District Court calendar this morning lists ninety seven offenders. Thirteen charged with conspiracy, fifty seven with gambling, and nine with violating Sunday laws.
