The California Wine Company removed from their old store on Fort Street to the Robinson Block, the store formerly owned by Ordway & Porton.
A Star report described a controversy over Interior Department road crews paid from seventy-five cents to a dollar a day, with volunteers allegedly used for defense labor. Officials, including W. E. Rowell and Charles Herrick, provided payrolls showing varied wages and occasional tool requirements, arguing most workers were properly paid and some idle time explained by workload.
At the Ionlani Yacht and Boat Club boat house a special meeting elected FB. W. Mc Hesney and W. E. Wall to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors. A new captain was discussed and a committee was formed to approach George Carter. Consideration of consolidating the Leilani club with the Hea Innis was deferred with other matters noted.
The twenty fifth anniversary of the institution of Oahu Lodge No 1 K of P is set for Tuesday August 18 at Sans Souci. Mystic Lodge will join to make the event a success with literary exercises and a banquet followed by dancing in the evening. Attendance limited to members and their families and press representatives.
The Educational Committee of the YMCA has scheduled classes from Bantumber to December 18, restart January 1 and run to April 30. Subjects include reading writing arithmetic bookkeeping shorthand type writing mechanical drawing piano orchestral music and the Hawaiian language, a new addition.
Subscribers are asked to choose between two items printed together. One item orders Company D to be dissolved at 7:30 PM this evening for drill. The other item states Company D will have no drill tonight in the drill shed for the local naval drill. The latter is correct.

Superintendent Brown cites wages for a diverse crew and predicts completion in ten weeks to three months, easing Makiki pressure and supplying upper districts with round-the-clock water.
Fragmentary OCR asks why Beed niriehen with disease while yuan bor escaped, noting ill effects in impure blood and weakened customs, versus Hood's sarvapartth purging wood and other references to Tomblis Hop's Pants as purely vegetable and claimed to purge pain or grip. The passage is garbled with nonsensical terms.

The Tribune cyclists invited their trainer David Crozier to a luau on the lanai of E. R. Hendry, Esq. last evening at 630 PM. Other riders from rival teams attended, and discussions continued until nearly 8. The event honored Crozier and showcased camaraderie among the cycling community.
A Westminster Gazette note, correcting a prior column, compares reign lengths from George II to Queen Victoria. It states George II reigned fifty nine years and ninety six days, from 1760 to 1820, while Victoria’s reign began June 20, 1887, and will reach the same span on September 24, with a possible celebration on September 25 or 26. It explains leap years affect the day count.
Dr Day informs Butters that at 2 o clock there are three varoloid cases at the Quarantine station, all doing well. The supposed fourth case was a false alarm as symptoms have disappeared.
The noon passenger list for the Volcano voyage includes W. H. Lewers, Robert Lewerk, JL. Ditmas, Miss Dy Wolf, Mrs. Carter, Miss May Giles, Mrs. H. Giles and the Stokes party of six.
