Kumerig Backers Meet Over Finances

In the absence of attorney Chas F Chillingworth the meeting of hotel keepers met at his office to discuss the Kumerie venture. President A Kobayashi presided and those not interested were asked to stay out. They aimed to determine any possible dividend for the hotel owners who funded chartering the Kumerie. They denied being broke and sought a square deal amid three stubborn hotelkeepers. The session began at 2 30 p m.

Immigrant Portuguese Arrivals Await Inspection at U S Station

A large group of local Portuguese gathered anxiously at the United States immigration station noon to learn if relatives would pass. Chief Inspector Brown and staff prepared to examine entrants though quarantine officials were late. Brown deemed the first group healthy with joyful children and engaging women, as courteous Portuguese onlookers saluted the inspector and the newcomers moved toward inspection.

Lucky Six to Visit Seattle in Hawaii Trade Tour

The Seattle Morning Times reports six educated Hawaiian belles, organized by Edith Weatherred, will sail August 21 on a Canadian Pacific liner and dock in Seattle for a week of entertainments. The voyage promotes closer trade with Hawaii and includes stops at Olympia, Portland, Salem, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Mexico, and San Francisco before returning to Hawaii. Mrs. Weatherred, sole arbiter of the selections, will lead the party.

Congress party tours Pearl Harbor with naval escorts

After lunch hosted by Mr and Mrs Macfarlane, the party faced a choice between returning by water or rail with escorts following on the Iroquois or train.
