Americans vow to fight $100 Fort Street flag case

A group of Americans met to contest the $100 fine for Malicious Injury imposed in Police Court on July 6 for displaying the German flag from the Orpheum Hotel on the Fourth of July. They planned to hire an attorney and carry the case to the Circuit Court, with funds raised from multiple contributors and a promise to oppose any payment by West.

Artists in Korea Paint Royals as Visitors Tour Seoul

Mr and Mrs Hubert Vos stay briefly in Korea before heading to Japan then back to the Island. During his stay Mr Vos painted portraits of Korea's king and royal family. In Seoul Prince Henry, brother of the German emperor, expressed a wish to see Mr Vita portraits and was warmly received at the Vos studio.

Training ship Hiyei visits Honolulu for officer training mission

The Japanese training cruiser Hiyei arrived from San Francisco via San Diego and Hilo, carrying 58 midshipmen and 18 officers under Captain Nakayama. The ship, built 22 years ago at Milford Haven, features heavy Krupp guns and a large secondary battery. Midshipmen wear short jackets with dirk and arms, while officers’ dress is a plain blue blouse with black braid. The Hiyei will remain in port a short time, then proceed to Yokosuka after a coaling period and a visit to Mokuaweoweo. Consul General Baito inspected the vessel upon arrival.

Engagement announced for Misa Parker and Carl Widemann

The engagement of Misa Helen Parker of this city to Carl Widemann of Waianae is announced. Both are well known young Hawaiians, the lady being the daughter of Hon. Samuel Parker and Carl Widemann the son of the late Judge Widemann. The marriage date is not yet set but will be in the near future.

City of Columbia Plans Direct Sail to Hongkong

The City of Columbia will not go to Hilo but sail direct to Hongkong later this week. Captain Walker confirms the positive stance and notes a costly coast ing license halted the venture due to lack of funds. In court, Attorney Henshal searched for his hat after a friend asked who had died, only to find crepe banding around it.

Police officer injured after fall from veranda on Punchbowl Street

A Portuguese police officer fell from the back veranda of a frame house opposite Kawai Abao church on Punchbowl Street at about 4 o clock last night. He was carried to the police station by Patrolman Parker and treated by Dr. Emerson. He was sitting on the railing singing when he lost his balance.
