Legislature in session debates pensions and military bill

The Senate opened at 10 with Wilder presiding. Debates over a pension of 5000 for Choe L. Carter's family, the 58500 for permanent settlements, and a 54000 amendment occurred. The liquor traffic resolution passed, a tax exemption for cultivating fibrous plants was introduced, and a Labor Commission bill was discussed. A currency bill ranked third reading as do military reforms, including National Guard organization and poll tax exemptions.

The Senate discussed the Military bill with Senator Baldwin asking if it targets a despotic power like Russia or the Republic of Hawaii. The House finished the Electric Railroad bill after its third reading and is now into the second reading of the alcohol bill as this issue goes forward.

ASOLHER SHOOTING MATCH CHALLENGE ACCEPTANCE

The match between F Company Regulars and D Company Miitia N G H is set for July 20 at the Makiki butts. Ten men per side will shoot ten rounds at 200 yards with military rifles and a minimum six pound trigger pull. Uniforms in fatigue dress with belts and side arms. Scores from D Company with Sharpshooters last week total 395 across ten shooters including Wilder Johnson Drummond Boyd and Dexter.
