Parade starts promptly at 9 a m July 4 1899 Richards and Hotel streets form up marching along Richards to Merchant to Nuuwanu to King to Fort. First division commanded by Capt Wilder includes Grand Marshal Capt Ashley and U S 6th Artillery with Blue Jackets from USS Iroquois. Second division under Lieut Kenake features Alde bicycles and Honolulu units. Third division led by Capt Carter Jr forms at Union Square with police, band, fire department and staff.

Circular Letter from J T Waterhouse announces that on June 1 1899 the Grocery and Provision business is taken over by Henry May Co Ltd and the Hardware and Crockery departments by Pacific Hardware Co Ltd. Waterhouse will remain connected to the corporations, urging continued patronage. The Grocery and Provision stock stays at Bethel street while Hardware stock moves to Pacific Hardware Co Ltd also on Bethel street. Dated Honolulu May 28 1899.
A state funeral for Queen Dowager Kapiolani drew large crowds at Kawaiahaʻo Church with a full ceremonial procession through King Street to the Royal Mausoleum. The service featured Bishop Willis, choirs, and organists, followed by a large escort, police, students from Kamehameha and St. Andrew's Priory, notable local societies, and military and naval detachments. Major Potter praised for managing the orderly procession and committal at Nauanu Cemetery.
Early morning on the Zeslandia a man and three women were found with bags and clothing declared as baggage. Second officer Stevens located them near the deck and returned them ashore. Names reported include Russell Colgrove, Mrs Berliner, Rona Berliner the actress, and another woman.

Despatches identify D A Day as D A Ray on his way to Hawaii to investigate labor problems. Ray is noted as former secretary of the Ian Commission and a member of the Interstate Com mercy Commission.
A vessel named Poretopgalinatamast encountered trouble as the bulle rin reports the foretopgallant mast gone while sailing ten miles eastward. The ship’s identity remains unconfirmed among the fleet from the coast.
The Cabinet approved pardons for Hering and Lynch with July 1 recommendation, Matsuda sent to the Council of State with no recommendation and later pardoned by a 7 to 4 vote. Matsuda, involved in a 1892 murder, saw his sentence reduced from death to life, then twenty years.
