Berlin January 22 The second bombardment of the Venezuelan fort has been officially reported here. The blockade is confined in force to secure an early settlement.
London January 23 Colonel Lynch was convicted of high treason for bearing arms against the government. He was sentenced to death but the penalty is expected to be commuted.
Washington January 23. Senators in Delaware Oregon Washington and Colorado face continuing deadlocks. No hostilities have occurred yet but excitement is high as factions contend for control in the stalemate.
San Francisco January 23 Chinese Inspector Dunn has resigned from office and will be succeeded by Charles Mehan, according to press reports. The change comes as authorities reshuffle the inspection staff in the port city.
Seventeen persons reportedly starved to death on the island of Los Roque due to food shortages from port blockades. Berlin reports the Reichstag crisis over Krupp’s death, with the government denying suicide notes. Maracaibo militia called to block German landing as Provident Bank mobilizes.
