Many Gamblers in Court in Police Court Morning

The Police Court saw many gamblers arraigned this morning. A group of twenty four, nabbed by Captain Kanae, were fined eight dollars and discharged. The rest, arrested in a raid by Detective McDuttie and a second group of eighteen, were discharged for lack of sufficient evidence. Ah Sax, a chota player, was fined fifteen dollars and jailed. A second party arrested by McDuffle in Kakaako last night received five dollars and court costs.

Meteor Sign Seen From Coast on December Day

Captain Peoleton aboard the Alive Coke reports a brilliant meteor observed from the coast on December 8 as it streaked from the zenith toward the earth and burned about 60 degrees above the horizon before vanishing behind Diamond Head.
