British Solomons Protestorate extends to many islands

The British Consul at Samoa dated December 8 1898 announces the inclusion of Bellona Renell and Stewart Islands the Santa Cruz and Reef Groups Tucopia Trevannion Anuda Fastaka Duff or Wilson Group and Pitesirn Island in the British Solomons Protectorate. The High Commissioner for the Western Pacific Court and the Pacific Order in Council 1898 rules apply and residents must govern themselves accordingly.

The free department of St Louis College becomes St Francis School. Located at Kakui street and College Jnne, the new building was erected by Luc cus Bros with painting by Mr Stirling in goo style. Dedicated by His Lordship the Bishop of Panapolis for Catholic children whose parents cannot pay tuition, the school currently hosts over 200 pupils.

Funeral for W. F. Gallagher Held at Methodist Church

The funeral of Interm. J. Gallagher was held from the Methodist church to Nunann cemetery at 10 this morning, Rev. G. L. Peareson officiated. A large attendance paid respects to the family with many floral offerings. M. J. Counter assisted the widow to the carriage. J. Battohelor, John Cassidy, L. O. Ablow and L. L. La Pierre served as pallbearers. H. H. Williams was the undertaker in charge.
