Coptic Maken Record Sets Speedy Travel Milestone
The steamship Coptic arrived in San Francisco on February 2, earlier than expected, setting a new speed record. It completed Yokohama to port in days, 9 hours 5 minutes, and Honolulu to San Francisco in 6 days 3 hours 47 minutes, narrowed only by head winds. The vessel sighted Nippon Mara on January 20 and Mariposa hours later, overhauled Aztec February 1, and should reach port tomorrow night.
