SIGNALING OF STEAMERS AND PUBLIC CONVENIENCE DISPUTE
In a heated discussion, residents defend keeping the Diamond Head signal station connected by a free telephone line. They argue the government should force the private carrier to serve the public as long established, criticizing Cassidy's action and noting the inching friction between the company and operators. H B Agee will wear a uniform as a special police officer. The Board of Health and the Oahu Cemetery Association will reconvene, with a physician conference to follow. A special officer recounts arrest of Ah Hui for vagrancy near President Dole's residence. The Chinaman, once deemed insane, faces trial after a night-time arrest. Judge Wilcox later sentences him to four months hard labor.
