Compressed air motors to run New York lines soon
New York plans compress ed air propulsion for suburban and street railways within a year. Ten air motor cars will operate on the Metropolitan Traction company’s Twenty-eighth and Twenty-ninth street crossover line, with belt lines and cross-town routes following. Other cities including Chicago and St. Louis near adoption, and London’s underground could join if results stay favorable. The American Air Power company backs the move, with notable investors eyeing expansion across rail and street systems.
