Dust mitigation through crude oil experiment on Kauai roads

On Kauai Aug 1 Mr B Palmer of Lihne Moad Noard reports experiments with crude oil to control road dust. Six barrels were applied July 18 and 19 on a stretch of government rail road between four and five miles, dust removed and oil laid along a 127 by 12 foot strip. Further oil follow ups were attempted, with mixed results and calls for heated oil to improve adhesion. Palmer suggests repeated applications and a four day traffic halt for drying, while awaiting official guidance from Acting Governor and cabinet.
