Steamship Line From San Diego to the Orient by October 1
A new steamship service linking San Diego with Japan and Honolulu is expected to operate by October 1 under the California and Oriental line. San Diego Union notes vessels will be bought abroad due to government shortages, with forecasts of monthly sailings from both ends and a three year service contract. The project plans to dispatch a steamer roughly every twenty-five to thirty days, initially four vessels in service.
