An ad extolls Ayer’s Sarsaparilla as a thorough blood purifier and tonic. It claims effectiveness for scrofula boils ulcers sores skin disorders and vitilated blood as well as catarrh rheumatism and rheumatic gout. The remedy supposedly aids digestion liver function nerves and general strength, with physicians praising it as best and universally in demand.
A thin attendance at the annual YMCA meeting in Honolulu with one third full hall opens the review. The report highlights two thirteen week terms, class enrollments in bookkeeping shorthand and Hawaiian courses, diplomas proposed, and gymnasium reforms led by new secretary H. E. Coleman. Fourteen members of the Sports Committee for the Queen Victoria Jubilee met last night and drafted a program with an estimated 4000 spend. Activities include morning boat races, 50 prize money, children’s sports at Kapio Inn park with free transport and meals, fourteen athletic events, seven bicycle events with prizes, and two horse races for the Jubilee Cup. The committee aims to create a memorable day for all ages and nationalities, contingent on Goances’ approval.
Large attendance marked the obsequies for the late Samuel Savidge at St. Andrew's Cathedral yesterday afternoon.
