Waterhouse stores change hands new owner takes over

The Port street No 10 Waterhouse estate store will pass to ER W Jordan after papers are completed. Jordan has managed the store for fifteen years and becomes sole proprietor. Fort street and Queen street operations stay as is, with Queen street expanding crockery and adding new goods for patrons.

Death of L. C. Kelley Nears Funeral at Whitney Home

L C Kelley age 66 died yesterday afternoon of consumption. Son in law of H M Whitney he arrived on the last trip of the R P Rithet. Funeral this afternoon at Whitney residence interment in Nunann cemetery. Kelley and his wife were members of Oakland Unitarian Church Rev Chas Wendie pastor. Native of Cape Cod Mass he spent 32 years with the Leather Barking Co of San Francisco.

Morgan Auction Sells Manon Lots as Few Bidders Rise

Morgan conducted an auction today for Manon lots with many attendees but limited bidding. Lots 6 and 7 sold to JA Magoon for 8400 each, while the remaining lots were not sold and the sale was discontinued.

Amesbury plans to turn Whittier house into public library

Citizens of Amesbury plan to convert the former home of John G. Whittier into a public library. The project would honor the poet who lived there in the later part of his life.
