State Board of Revenue creates State Examiner for tax law
The State Board of Revenue met in Carson City on September 1 with Governor Sparks, Controller Davis, and Attorney-General Sweeney. United States Senator Newlands and Attorney H. F. Bartine attended. Bartine was appointed State Examiner to explain the new tax reduction law, inspect county records, and report violations. The appointment, set to begin immediately, draws criticism for cost and timing as the law is not operative until 194.

More Trouble For Tonopah County Boundary Debate
The United States Government map places Tonopah and most mines in Esmeralda County. A Sentinel diagram based on the map shows a diagonal dividing line affecting Tonopah Amal Gamated, Campiere, Silver Top, Desert Queen and other mines, leaving Tonopah's business district west in Nye County. Officials urge joint survey by Nye and Esmeralda to settle the boundary to avoid costly litigation and political implications, noting future mine patents may hinge on the government line and Nye residents risk electoral shifts if Tonopah residents cannot run for Nye offices. Senator Bell is praised for resisting moves to move the county seat from Belmont to Tonopah.
