Fureka Schools Reopened Tuesday With Hopeful Attendance

Eureka schools reopened Tuesday with strong attendance and a spirit to achieve a productive year. Enrollment work surpassed last year’s start in several grades, and the district plans playground improvements with Miss Eichelberger. A phonograph for grades is expected soon to aid music, penmanship, and physical education with practical, engaging records.

District Court Proceedings in September 18 Session

District Court actions list motions denied continuances and term orders. Cases include Nick Rallo vs William Laird denied motion for new trial and Nelson Toft vs Gaston Uhalde set for trial. Eureka-Croesus Mining Co vs Thomas Dixon demurrer overruled with 30 days to answer. Citizenship petition hearing continued to March 1922.

Aills Girl Killed. Mother Wounded in Northern Elko County

Sylvian Van Eaton, about twenty, shot and killed Miss Valores Wighall and wounded her mother after a marriage dispute. Sheriff Harris led a posse in pursuit from Contact in northern Elko County. The Deacon Entangled Comedy at Eureka Theatre

The Deacon Entangled three act comedy was staged at Eureka Theatre on Labor Day eve benefiting St Brendan’s Catholic church. Cast included Deacon Penrose Dr Brennen Spangler Laird Sopher Reynolds Blaie Travers Gibson Davis. Mrs Traversia organized, Mrs Rattanzi provided piano between acts. Father Kennedy thanked attendees and contributors.

Pahrump Ranch Reports Big Artesian Water Flow

Beatty Nevada September 7 A sensational artesian water flow is reported at Pahrump ranch. Patrick Miles, superintendent of Paddy's Pride mine near Shoshone, says the flow surpasses all original wells used for irrigating over 800 acres of Pahrump Ranching Company's holdings. Company plans tests to extend operations and possibly crop land. Miles notes the belt reached 800 feet and water rose to the rig top, with delivery reportedly greater than the original well.

High grade ore shoots at Eureka mines show gains

Eureka mining notes report two shoots on the 400 level delivering richer ore. The south 400 shoot improves with depth, the Holly shoot on the 40 level extends daily. Bullwhacker 430 drift reached last Saturday and may define downward extension along the limestone and porphyry contact. Eureka-Uncle 5AM ore shoot assayed 83.60 to 107.00 and drifted 64 feet toward shale, with ore blocks forming but no bins yet. County Commissioners Hold September Session in Eureka County

The Eureka County Board of Commissioners met in regular session with Commissioners Held Johnson and others present. They approved previous minutes, filed officers' reports, and noted the State Auditor's report. A Liberty Bond donation of 50 dollars plus 72 dollars cash was received from J C Latta to reimburse county aid. The board discussed highway routes Welsh Canyon versus Emigrant Pass, delaying action pending Fulkerson's presence, and adjourned to September 9. In an adjourned meeting they considered Overland Trail communications, reaffirmed Emigrant Pass as feasible, and refused to enter a new survey agreement. They allowed Worsham Bros. claim for a check protector and set September 19 to decide on courthouse sidewalk work.
