Lincoln Nebraska November 14 William J Bryan today said he will accept the Democratic nomination for President in 1908 but will neither ask for nor make a fight for it. He notes he has been asked to state his position for a year and believes the public deserves to know. He will not decide if the nomination goes to another man and would not be disappointed or disgruntled. He avoids campaign issues but says Republicans must nominate a reform a stand patter or one with known positions. The party should pursue the same course regardless of the Republican candidate. He adds that the next campaign will appeal to public conscience. He cites campaign funds coming from corporations seeking to turn government into a business asset and reaffirms equal rights for all and special privileges to none.
New stage recruit Mrs Claire Oddie formerly Claire Macdonald and wife of Nevada State Senator Oddie will debut with the Shubert forces in the Gay White Way at the Casino on Monday evening. A 22 year old beauty, she was married at 17 to the senator who is much older, and separated about a year ago. Her voice has been trained abroad.
United States Senator Joseph W. Bailey spoke to about 3000 in El Paso and warned that Congress has never understood the money question and likely never will. He urged a wiser coming Congress to improve the country.
