Death of W L Pritchard former Eurekan in Nevada
W L Pritchard a prominent Eureka figure died at Oak Grove near Sacramento California in his 78th year. He ran line freight teams between Eureka and Palisade and helped found the Eureka and Palisade Railway. He built the Olanio Block and led the California Carriage Company and later engaged in stock raising. His horses and stables were renowned on the Coast. He promoted many enterprises, accumulated fortunes in some, but later years saw diminished wealth. He also operated horse car lines in Sacramento and ran teams to Tonopah after its discovery.

Killing in Elko County Cattle Thieves Killed in Fight
In Elko County last Friday at the Graham ranch two cattle thieves Jim McKelvey alias Mahogany Jim and Charles Winslow were surprised skinning a steer. A violent struggle ensued as owners attempted arrest. McKelvey was killed and Winslow severely wounded after they used the carcass for cover. Sheriff District Attorney and Coroner rushed to the scene.

Mangled by Cars Kills Two Men in Elko County
Two men died and a third was badly hurt on Southern Pacific rails near Elko County in one day. John Martin of Elko was struck and mangled by a passing train near Elko. a track walker found his body the next morning. Lopez, a Mexican, fell from No 6 in Wella yards while likely stealing a ride, dying en route to Elko. Italian laborer Martin Machita, 38, jumped from a train near Wells and was seriously injured, admitted to Elko Hospital with potential recovery.

Death of M. J. Farrell in Grass Valley California
M J Farrell died November 9 in Grass Valley California after a lingering illness. He was 72, born in Mount Hope New Jersey and lived many years in Austin Nevada where he prospected before moving to California. He served as State Senator in 1878 and 1880 and was a member of the St Louis Silver Convention in 1889. His widow Miss L C Peterson survives him.
