Early 1900s Yale figure shaped intercollegiate athletics

A Yale graduate who held the intercollegiate championship for the short distance during college and proposed the International intercollegiate championship meets. He organized the Yale Oxford London match in 1804 and the Yale Cambridge meet in New York in 1805. Breakwater Trial Planned for Lucin Cut-Off Causeway

Chief Engineer Hood of Southern Pacific inspects the Lucin Cut-Off to decide on a breakwater plan for protecting a $10,000,000 bridge across Great Salt Lake. A trial section of several hundred feet of breakwater will be built with two rows of piles eight feet apart and heavy planking that can be raised or lowered to meet lake conditions. If effective, several miles of breakwater may be constructed this season to shield railroad tracks and property from wave action.

Electric lighting for Carlin, Nevada, will be installed in yards and buildings, as a new $30,000 hotel nears completion and a pressed brick depot is planned.
