Rights of Way Dispute Settled by Nevada Arbitration

Nevada arbitrators resolved a long standing clash between Southern Pacific and Western Pacific over crossing rights. Western Pacific will run parallel to Southern Pacific, with crossings largely eliminated and a single overhead crossing planned four miles west of Palisade. The decision narrows the gap to as little as 15 feet in some stretches and keeps most crossings out. The commission also plans to press the Interstate Commerce Commission to address backhaul charges harming Nevada commerce, seeking fairer freight rates and policy clarity across Elko Palisade Reno Winnemucca Wells Carson City and other points.
