Ore Stored In Bins At Croesus Mine After Snow

Severe snow storms blocked roads to the Croesus mine this past week delaying ore shipments to smelters. High winds and feet of snow filled the roads, but high grade ore is being extracted from 400 faces and stored in bins at the mine. The Eureka Tunnel workings show progress and ore bearing ground was tapped this week, with plans to resume shipments once access improves. Repair parts for the Prospect Tunnel compressor plant have arrived and work accelerates.

Rich galena ore vein found at Eureka Holly mine

A rich vein of galena ore was struck at the 465-foot Jewel in the Eureka Holly mine last Monday. The vein widened from inches to about two, with developing promising as work continues. Snow blocked ore shipment. two water tanks for new engines shipped from Livermore, California, with W A Barnes of San Francisco expected to arrive in Eureka around April 1.

Ustern Star Matron Visits Eureka Guests

Mrs. J. Wesley Stewart Grand Matron of the Order of the Star and Mrs. Petty Grove secretary of Tur Chapter of Tonopah visited Eureka from Saturday to Monday. They arrived from Austin and planned to go to Ely and Las Vegas but weather and travel delays kept them in Eureka. they departed Tonopah Tuesday.

Mormon Settlement Treated as Thriving Nevada Community

Dr. Mabel K. Young and Miss Alma Woods visited Lund in White Pine County and nearby towns after a six week Nevada tour. They found Lund home to about 400 Mormons with a self-sustaining economy, water shares, and no deaths in eight years. Preston, Silverton, and Duckwater were noted for expansion and activity as mining prospects grow.

Eureka Bank Receives Incorporation Certificate in Nevada

The Sentinel shows the Eureka County Bank and Trust Company’s incorporation certificate issued by Nevada Secretary of State George Bradigan. It states the Articles of Incorporation were filed March 9, 1920 and are on file, with all required facts certified. Deputy R W Burris witnessed the document in Carson City.

Cane Sugar Climbs Coastwide to Civil War High

Cane sugar advanced along the Pacific Coast from fifteen to sixteen cents a pound wholesale. Refineries report retail prices at eighteen and one-half cents per pound. The second rise in four days brings the highest Coast price since the Civil War.
