Free gold strike reported near Blue Eagle and Cripps camp
Nye County resident M Horton reports free gold in the old Troy mining district eighteen miles south of Blue Eagle. A major strike twenty six miles south of Blue Eagle is noted by Tonopah Bouants with Teddy Cripps uncovering a large gold and silver ore ledge near Reveille in Railroad Valley. The 25 foot vein yields 35 dollars in gold per ton and 24 ounces of silver with eight percent copper. A Cripps district is formed and locals expect a thriving camp with ample wood and water nearby.
