The Bally Hill copper mine and smelter in Shasta County changed hands in a San Francisco closing on March 17 for 2.6 million dollars to General Electric of Schenectady. Hartwig A. Cohen seeks a 50,000 dollar commission from Captain DeLamar and the Bally Hill Copper Mining and Smelting Co in a San Francisco Superior Court attachment filed in Redding on March 22. The Bally Hill is a major Shasta County asset, with a 300 ton daily smelter and steady work for 300 to 400 workers. the deal marks a historic local mining transaction.
