Mrs Clarence Mackay has notified Miss Ann Martin that she will accept an honorary Vice President post with Nevada Equal Suffrage League. Martin leads the suffrage campaign in the state and previously led the movement in London about a year ago.

Oregon and Nevada Choose San Francisco for Exposition

Oregon Governor Oswald West and Nevada Governor Tasker L. Oostie led their states to plant the first flags for the Panama Pacific Exposition. Oregon raised its colors on a fir pole by the bay shore while Nevada planted its gold emblem a few hundred feet away. A large crowd at the Presidio cheered as the governors and staffs attended the ceremony amid a brigade drill.

Unwritten Law Clears Dr Eikner in Mason Murder Case

After five minutes of deliberation the jury found Dr. Eikner not guilty in the Mason murder of W J Otter. The verdict rested on unwritten law as Otter had entangled with Mrs Eikner, prompting the fatal shooting at a Mason hotel dining room. Eikner fired twice as Otter left, then two more shots after he fell.

Elko Judge Orders Return of $73 From Gambling Raid

In district court Judge Taber ordered returning to Mark Johnson the $73 seized during last July’s gambling raid at the Commercial Hotel, described as the bank roll. The court is also weighing destruction of gambling paraphernalia captured then, having so far refused to forfeit the faro box to any party.
