Uncle Sam lax to curb flirtation by mail enforces a long standing law. Married men with a city home who use general delivery must explain why they want mail not at home or business. Postmasters receive a blank for the recipient to sign stating the reasons for desiring general delivery mail instead of carrier service.
A two and a half year old girl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Miller, died after a brief illness blamed on suffocation from a large quantity of candy. The vomiting led to lung inhalation of stomach discharge, and the coating of the chocolate contained paraffin, an indigestible substance that can clog the intestines.
Warden Dickerson completed arrangements for a motion picture unit at the State penitentiary. Convicts will watch Sunday matinee films in the dining room. The government supplied pictures from Grand theatre and a prison operator will run the projector. Educational content plus some comedy will be shown, following California and other western states' plans.
Carson City begins work on a new state prison with convict labor. The four story concrete building will house 320 cells, excavations and rock breaking underway, total cost not to exceed 100000 dollars, with location possibly on the prison farm.
