Lincoln Highway to Host First Cross Country Radio Tour

Detroit announces America's first cross country radio tour via the Lincoln Highway. Two radio cars, including a Magnavox equipped Rickenbacker sedan, will travel from Detroit to San Francisco over 40 days, broadcasting concerts along the route and using stations like WX and WWJ to reach crowds.

Prize Fight in Eureka July 4 at Euroks Theatre

Long Kid Murphy and the Fighting Blacksmith Martin, well known in Eureka, will headline a 10 round bout at the Euroks Theatre on the evening of July 4. Two 4 round preliminaries of high class precede the main event. The first prelim begins promptly at 8 o'clock p m. Both Murphy and Martin have ring experience and the contest will be on the square. Preliminaries feature seasoned fighters and no parlor faction will be in evidence. James Mann will be referee. One dollar.

Plans Perfected for Big Eureka Celebration

The Eureka celebration set for July 34 4th and 5th features a full program of amusements athletics races and ball games. The single handed drilling contest will draw many contestants with possible upsets by camp miners. Horse races attract many entries and dope may shift. Rooms will be provided as visitors are expected to exceed expectations.

Hunting Elected Principal at Elko Grade School

L. A. Hunt, former Eureka County High School principal, is named principal of Bi Grammar Grade School with 14 grade teachers under his supervision. He and Mrs. Hunt arrived in Eureka from Carson by auto, stayed overnight, and continued to Elko the next day to begin duties at once with a brief summer vacation planned later.

Carlin Edges Eureka In Close Baseball Battle

Eureka went to Carlin last Sunday for a 9 inning game and lost 3 to 2 in a well played contest. John Cardinalli started five innings before Pete Merialdo held Carlin the rest of the way. Eureka’s lineup included Rebaleati Brooks Travers Laird Kelley Hunley Breen. Carlin hosted a crowd amid a dusty 96 mile trip. July 4 and 5 rematch in Eureka promised strong interest.

Fletcher seeks the State Senate nomination from Eureka County pending Democratic Primary results. Mining revival predicted by Reno tour and eastern money

Robert H. Todd touring Nevada mining sites reports signs of a broad revival with eastern capital resuming funding. He highlights rehabilitated properties, a San Francisco Bay byproduct paint plant, and plans to mill the Eureka Prince with 25 workers by July, as development and ground prep begin. Named figures include Herman Zadig, A. S. Wollberg, A. H. Lowe, and the Lining Consolidated and Star of the West ventures.

District Court Sets Estate Actions and Court Orders

At the June term Judge Peter Breen presided and all calendar cases were continued. The administrator of George W. Turner was authorized to sell all real and personal property at public auction. Letters of guardianship were issued to J P Whitmore for Mary Whitmore a minor. The first and final account in Mary Whitmore estate was approved and distributed. Rev W F Kennedy authorized to perform marriage ceremonies in Nevada. A suit by George L Reading and Christopher OConnell vs Consolidated Cortez Silver Mines Co et al. seeks a restraining order to permit assessment work on the February mining claim in Cortez district, while patent action on the claim proceeds. The restraining order was granted. Las Vegas will hold its county sale September 27.

Baseball Game Sunday at Eureka Palisade Clash

The Eureka team plans to host Palisade this Sunday June 26. A wire reports the Palisade squad is prepared to travel and the Eureka management asks all adult spectators to contribute 60 cents toward expenses of bringing the outside team. Children should pay proportionally. Everyone is urged to attend and support the game by paying admission.

Last Wool Shipments Leave Local Rail and Roads

The final wool shipment from the area was sent today by local railway. About 600 large bales have already been moved from Eureka this season by road. Additional wool was transported from Eureka this spring to main lines by auto trucks.
