Death of Santa Clara seed man linked to horse disease
Hugh O Agnew a leading seed man in Santa Clara County died June 11 in Santa Clara from glanders contracted from his driving horse. The horse, kept at a public stable, showed illness two weeks earlier. Agnew moved the animal to his home to care for it, contracted the disease himself, and after expert confirmation, the horse was shot and cremated.
