Butte Payroll Exceeds One Million Monthly In Butte Mines
The April payroll for the Butte mining district reached 1,350,000 with workers paid 8.75 a day under current copper price while earlier when copper topped 17 cents a pound wages were 4 a day and payroll hit 1,500,000. Anaconda Company provides most of the payroll, but new firms are forming and if copper stays near current levels, by next year payroll could climb to 1,750,000 a month.

Bugs to Wage War Against Weevils Near Salt Lake
George S Reeves head of the Salt Lake entomology bureau says bugs will be released into alfalfa fields southwest of Salt Lake to see if they survive in the field and help exterminate the alfalfa weevil. The government has wintered these unnamed bags and now tests their self sufficiency. They will be observed by enormologists as the pests feed only on the weevil.
