The Eureka Theatre hosted the Eureka County High School Class of 1922 graduation. Bishop Hunting delivered the baccalaureate sermon, with music by a local teachers choir and a solo by Addie Merialdo. Diplomas were presented by the Board of Education as Principal Hunting urged building upgrades and community support.

Eureka County High School presented a three act comedy at the Eureka Theatre to a packed house. Miss Marguerite Henderson coached the play and received praise for her unusual ability. The show featured vocal solos and a dance, with encores and a social dance at Pavilion hall that netted the Sentora a substantial sum.

Fourth in Eureka Promises Two Day July 4 Celebration

Eureka plans a two day Fourth of July event with baseball on June 18 in Carlin, a three act farce opening festivities on July 3, horse racing, moving pictures, and the Rescue Hose Company ball. Eureka Mining News Reports Ore Samples Near Main Tunnel

Superintendent D States of Eureka-Uncle Sam district and Sentinel sample ore from the east side of the main tunnel near the shale about 700 feet from the Hamburg end line. One foot of vein assayed 9 percent gold and 135 ounces silver while hanging wall sample yielded 177 ounces silver and no gold. No lead detected in either. Development shows ore trending south east toward Hamburg. ore similar to Friday shaft ore previously shipped with smelter gold average around 15 ounces per carload. A day and night shift is on and a carload of ore is expected for shipment soon.

Eureka Secret Canyon Mines Development Report

Clarence Johnson superintendent and manager of Eureka Secret Canyon Mines Inc arrived in Eureka after days at the camp. Surveys were made and ore samples assayed. A 75 foot shaft development is planned from the 200 foot level of the Page shaft to reach high value ore bodies. Samples yielded 117.8 ounces of silver and 123.80 dollars in gold per ton. Old drifts are badly caved and must be cleared to access ore economically.

Lost pocket book reward in Eureka June 7

A black leather pocket book about four inches square was lost in Eureka on June 7. It contained $56 in currency and a traveler's check for 10, plus receipts and papers. A $25 reward is offered for its return to the owner or to the Sentinel office. James Morrison, age 5.

Commission Proceedings Report June Meeting Actions Described

The June 5 commissioner meeting reviewed bank balances with the auditor, approved prior minutes and officer examinations, and heard a complaint about stock trespass on Prospect road. The board ordered action against trespassers with repair at owner expense, allocated funds for Eureka's six month salary quota, and appointed J. P. Whitmore and A. M. Huebner as game wardens at $25 monthly each upon bonds.

Eureka Area Miners Assess Prospect Mountain Claims

Ole Eliott of Ely toured Eureka district mining properties this week while the Eureka-King Mining Co. placed five men on assessment work at Prospect Mountain. BR. C. Strickland arrived from Salt Lake City to inspect Diamond and Excelsior mines, and D. B. Laxton announced a Nevada Public Service Commission permit for Elko to Eureka auto truck freighting. Edward Herrera of the Eureka Hotel announced a free Saturday dance to christen a new hardwood floor as reopening follows renovations. L. A. Hunting and Mrs. Hunting left for Elko to pursue school principal posts, with Chauncey Smith not seeking reappointment. the couple plans to travel to Carson and then Astoria, Oregon.

Public Lands in Eureka County Open for Soldier Settlement

The Elko land office announces that in eleven townships near the Northern and main lines of the Southern and Western Pacific railroads lands will open for soldier settlement on July 3, 1922. Qualified veterans will have a 91 day preferred entry period under H J Resolution 30 and 1922 regulations, with remaining lands later available to the public.

New Road Around Shoshone Point Prepared

Battle Mountain Scout reports Eureka County and State Highway Commission will replace the tough Shoshone Point section on the Victory highway with an old right of way being improved for automobile travel. Work to upgrade the route began, aiming for tourist readiness by early next week. The area features steep twenty percent grades and sharp curves that caused vehicles to back up on ascent. The new gravel stretch will be easier to maintain.

Eighth Grade Graduates At Eureka District School

Eight students from the Eureka District School eighth grade complete the year and receive diplomas. Eureka Residents to Hear Radio Concert Tour

The Sentinel reports Detroit’s Board of Commerce and Lincoln Highway groups will bring America's First Cross-Country Radio Tour to Eureka on Saturday July 1. Two Rickenbacker cars with sensitive receivers guided by Thomas H. Clark will broadcast noon and evening concerts, aiming to tune Detroit stations WWJ and WCX and relay via Mangavox. Detroiters Wallace Blood and C W Heinz promote Detroit as auto capital hosting this advanced radio show aboard cars equipped with loop and emergency aerials built by Tocla Laboratories.
