Easy Farm Loans Law Promises Long term Credit Reform
The Federal Farm Loan bill passes both houses by broad support, enabling groups of 10 or more farmers to form a National Farm Loan Association. Farmers invest $5 per share and borrow from the Federal Land Bank, with notes secured by mortgages and paid off over about 30 years at lower interest, plus semiannual principal reductions. Bonds and bank shares become tax free, and the system will be overseen by appointed trustees and a Federal Board. A separate State Land Office event in Carson reports $55,000 cash receipts for land contracts, aiding 163 patents over 50,000 acres and boosting school funds.
