School plans military drill in curriculum proposal

White Pine County high school pupils would include military drill in the regular course if plans by Principal 8. D. Erwins are approved by parents. He sent a circular to all parents asking their opinion on the proposed addition and has received a number of approving replies.

Nevada Revenue District Movement Seeks State Split from San Francisco

Reno Commercial Club and Nevada bankers plan to form a revenue district for all of Nevada and nine eastern California counties. Currently Nevada uses San Francisco offices for revenue stamps and business, but proponents argue a Nevada district would aid the government and citizens. Also noted are Hugo Rothstein's long run, patriotism surges, and a $300,000 appropriation to reclaim Carson Valley lands. A large reservoir on the Carson river’s west fork near Gardnerville is planned after surveys.

Nevada National Guard Called For August

The War Department orders all state guards to full war strength. Nevada’s contingent is to be recruited for August 5 and will be absorbed into the regular army, ending state militia status. Carson City named mobilization point as about 200 Nevada guardsmen are to be raised under the act.
