Eureka mining week notes steady progress at Crouse and Prince ore shipments and a King ore body promising high grade. Prospect Mountain tunnel advances are eyed for magnified mining efficiency, with Davis properties linked to four companies and a planned rail and tramway route, easing winter operations and enabling broader ore production.
The Pittman act enables bona fide applicants to secure 640 acres through water-search expenditure, leading to many filings. More than 45,000 acres in Diamond Valley have been located, with entries stretching from Devil's Gate to three miles north of Diamond station and additional tracts in Diamond Antelope and Fish Creek valleys under inspection. Miss Dolores Mann and Peter Merialdo were united in marriage Tuesday evening July 20 in Eureka by Judge Peter Breen. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Mann, has lived in Eureka for years, and the groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Merfaldo, is deputy County Recorder. A large circle of friends sent best wishes at a supper after the ceremony.
Report from Careon City cites an attorney general opinion on voter registration for independents. It states a person who registers as independent may cancel and re-register no less than thirty days before the primary election. The note comes after a request by District Attorney Powell to clarify the election law.

Charles Priest assistant State Superintendent suffers the death of his father aged 78. The loss was reported Monday evening. Priest had visited his father in Tennessee earlier this summer and found him in good health for his age. Carson Appeal reports the family sorrow.
The Eureka South Holly Mining Company purchased this week all interests of Phil Parenf in the Democrat mine, an old patented claim in the district that adjoins their existing holdings. The deal is reported as a strategic expansion in the Sentinel region.

Bock confesses to pilfering ten thousand eighty dollars in Salt Lake City and resigns after restitution. Labor Board wage award totals six hundred twenty five million dollars annually despite protests. Prohibition convention in Lincoln nominates W. J. Bryan for president but he declines. Aaron Watkins is named. Ohio now shows three presidential nominees.
The Sentinel announces the closing of registration for the Primary election in Burke County. Registration ends August 17. Unregistered voters are urged to register if they wish to vote. Since June 1, 38 new voters joined the county register, including 10 Democrats, 23 Republicans, 2 Socialists, 1 Non-Partisan, and 2 with no designation.

Chicago July 22 Buyers from small towns in twenty two states delay orders noting potential price reductions. A. G. Blackmore of the Retailers' Commercial Union says shoppers will place few orders now and repeat in two or three weeks when prices fall.

Portland July 19 Elisabeth Marbury New York delegate at large to the Democratic National Convention argues the present prohibition law favors the rich and is hard to enforce. She urges more liberal policy allowing light wines to give the poor man the same privileges, condemning prohibition as unethical and impracticable.
In Carena City on July 31 Thatcher a former Nevada attorney and noted Democrat declared his candidacy for a presidential elector seat. He is joined by Robert W. Heme of Elko as the only other candidate for one of the elector ships. No Republicans have yet entered the race.
London July 21 Silver rose by two pence half penny on fair buying from India amid a market short of supplies. The finish was firm.
New York July 11. The American Smelting and Refining Company advanced the price of lead frames to $8.60 today.
Announcement states that candidates cards will be published up to General Election day at ten dollars for Newinpeland State offices and five dollars for County offices reading notices sketches and political announcements will be published at ten cents per line.
