Railroad Assured Two Routes to Tonopah Now Being Considered
The San Francisco Bulletin notes a Tonopah railroad is likely, with Eureka & Palisade or Southern Pacific routes under study. Eureka ore as fluxing aid would justify extension to Tonopah, making the line economically necessary for smelting operations and ore transport. Local officials voice optimism that Tonopah would be reached soon, with surveys focusing toward Eureka or Candelaria. Ruby Valley prosperity report closes the item with Mrs. Bartlett praising Elko County’s land interests and hospitality.
