Bombardment threats end Cape Haytien clashes

In Cape Haytien on July 1 Admiral Killick ordered marines to return to their ship after fighting between Firmin partisans and Nord supporters. Firmin's residence and relatives' houses were pillaged. The Crete-a-Pirrot warship sought coal in a roadstead with consular protection as peace appeared restored.

Fear of another strike cripples Chicago rail freight

Chicago, July 1. If railroad general managers do not reverse their wage decision, about 10,000 freight handlers may quit work today across Chicago warehouses and freight sheds. A sympathy strike could involve other unions, and the Teamsters union has decided not to haul freight if nonunion workers move the cargo.

Republicans to Send Campaigners to Sugar States

Washington July 1 The Republican congressional campaign committee plans major demonstrations in California and Michigan during the upcoming campaign. The president will actively participate, aiming to preserve full Republican votes in both states. Three speeches by the president in Michigan are planned, with cabinet member Shaw likely touring California and Maine's Representative Littlefield among the headliners as campaigning intensifies.

Stock corrals and rail transport expanded across district

The company has built stock corrals at Diamond 12 miles from Eureka and at Alpha Hay Ranch and Palisade and will handle horses cattle and sheep to and from all railroad points. Stockmen will be paid to transport by rail. Water available at all points. Palisade track scales for cattle weighing being installed. Rates are reasonable and quoted on application.

Water Irrigation Notice From Eureka Water Works

Notice to irrigate must be arranged with the Superintendent. Water use limited to 7 am to 8 am and 6 pm to 7 pm with an extra charge based on garden size.
