Blanks Offered For Soldiers Travel Pay Balance

Adjutant General Sullivan has sent blanks to Nevada newspapers for additional travel allowance for enlisted men discharged since November 11, 1918. Discharged soldiers who got three and a half cents per mile may claim an extra one and a half cents. A February 28 1919 act allows five cents per mile to the bona fide home or original muster place.

Girls Paid Four Dollar Wages For Hay Work In Elko

Elko Free Press reports women hired to hay in Elko during a labor shortage earned four dollars per day plus board, higher than the usual three fifty for mower and rake roles. The crew led by Mr. Glaser includes Misses Allene Wright Nellie Gobin Verele Lebinski Bernice Davis and Grace Davis. They perform hayfield tasks except stacking.

Nevada issues 8000 vehicle licenses this year by county

Secretary of State Bradigan reports 8,000 automobile licenses issued since January with Washoe County leading at about a quarter of the total. Other counties showing sizable totals include Clark 373 and Nye 748, while Humboldt 835 and Washoe 2,196 are among the top jurisdictions.
