Not a Senatorial Candidate Bartine Declares
A Reno letter reports H F Bartine will not seek the United States Senate but run for Supreme Judge instead. The Reno missive describes a fusion meeting in early June with Newlands and other leaders present, discussing backing a Bartine bid with subscriptions. Bartine's public renouncement follows the meeting amid mixed reactions and a tongue in cheek reference to Sharon Nixon politics. A separate item notes a severe mowing accident near Dayton injuring an 8 year old, with possible fatal outcome.

Transfer of Elko horse thieves to White Pine for robbery trial
P H Cannon of Cherry Creek and Deputy Sheriff Borchert secured a court order to transfer Armstrong and Thomas to White Pine County for trial on robbery charges. The Elko court held that Cherry Creek residents sought punishment, and the prisoners were moved after agreeing to return to Elko if not held or convicted in White Pine. The offenders claimed innocence of robbery but admitted stealing a Navajo blanket from Cannon’s stable and said they were in Cherry Creek only briefly. Robbery carries a longer penalty range than grand larceny.
