State Board Recommends Muzzling of All Dogs
The State Board of Health and officials met in Governor Boyle’s office to review authority for enforcing dog muzzling to curb rabies. They found no state law authorizing such action, placing enforcement with county officials. Rabies Pasteur Treatment Cases Reported Statewide
Since the rabies epidemic began in the state thirty people have received Pasteur treatment at the State University hygienic laboratory. Persia Sunk by Submarine Near Crete With Heavy Losses
The Peninsular and Oriental liner Persia was torpedoed near Crete and sank in minutes. Estimated 300 dead, 231 passengers, 250 to 300 crew. Two Americans presumed lost, including Robert M. McNeely and Charles H. Grant, with Edward Rose leaving the ship at Gibraltar. The ship sailed December 18 for Bombay.
