Nevada reserves 15 changed in Toiyabe National Forest

Taft signed a proclamation reallocating 65 755 acres from Toiyabe to adjust boundaries of the Nevada forest and adding narrow timbered strips along the bases of the Toiyabe Desatoya Toiyabe and Monitor ranges. Gillis mountains division transferred from Mono to Toiyabe. Unappropriated lands will be restored to settlement after local notices.

County Judge Rules Carlin Nuisance Abatement Favoring Elko County

In Carlin a series of county initiated suits aimed at removing buildings and fences from streets and highways were decided in favor of Elko County. Judge Mitchell ruled the county can abate nuisances and open highways after earlier orders and disobedience led to actions by the district attorney. The Buckles et al case was reviewed, with Poett prevailing on the county’s right to compel removal.

Henderson Bank Secures New 4000-Pound Safe in Nevada

Eiko Nevada December 31 reports Henderson Banking Company unveils a new Mosier safe weighing 4000 pounds. Its circular door and hardened steel make drilling futile. It is the second safe installed by the bank to protect lands. Last July the old safe time lock failed and took two days to break, causing minimal cash exposure.
