Eureka-Prince Mining to Acquire Silver Lick Property

The Silver Lick properties recently bought by Eugene Davis from Harris Fine will be transferred to the Eureka Prince Mining Company now being organized. After organization, ownership will shift and mining work will begin including sinking a compartment shaft to access the line on the incline. The ore is highly metallic, alloying with Eureka Croesus ores, and the company plans extensive development to reach greater depths and maximize tonnage for smelting.

Influenza Epidemic Mild in Eureka County

Eureka County Health Officer Dr. W. H. Creanen reports 16 or 16 influenza cases with no deaths, calling the outbreak mild this year. Authorities credit caution and public behavior, while predicting the epidemic may run about four years and decline in severity each year. He denies rumors of sleeping sickness and urges prompt medical care when ill.

Mabel L Tunnel Ready for Ore Pull from Deadbroke Claim

In the Eureka Climax mine the Mabel L Tunnel formerly Orange Tunnel has been put in good shape with timbering complete and rails laid. Driving is pushed toward the Deadbroke claim ore body, 200 feet below the present exposure, with upraises planned to reach high grade ore for shipment once weather permits hauling.

Eureka Schools Reopen After Poor Attendance

Eureka schools closed last Monday due to about half the pupils present and sickness in families with two teachers absent. Bad weather and illness cited as causes. All teachers now able to resume duties and board sets reopening for Monday.

American Legion Post to Secure Eureka Charter

Arrangements for securing a charter for the Eureka Post of the American Legion were made at a meeting of ex service men held last Saturday in the Red Cross room at the county courthouse. Death of Barbara Bartlett in Tonopah

Barbara Bartlett a German born emigrant who lived many years in Eureka died in Tonopah on February 26 at age 77. She was survived by husband Mason B Bartlett and two sons George a Reno attorney and Henry J Bartlett a mining man now in San Francisco. Funeral services were held at Tonopah Catholic church with Father Noonan officiating and pallbearers from Eureka and Tonopah pioneers. Votive remains were interred temporarily in Tonopah due to storm conditions after a request to be buried in Eureka.

New Compressor and Hoist Installed at Eureka Holly Mine

Erecting of the hoist and compressor was finished last week at the Eureka Holly mine. The hoist reaches 1000 feet depth and the compressor provides air pressure for ten drills. Erecting engineer R K Mattley of San Francisco arrived early this week to install two 76 horsepower crude oil engines powering development at the mine, after prior work in Winnemucca. Completion is expected in about three weeks.

Eugene Davis Returns From Illness On Eureka-Croesus Report

Eugene Davis, after over a month with the flu in San Francisco, returned to Eureka last Wednesday and spoke on Eureka-Croesus. He said the mine looks better than ever, but work slowed by illness and an epidemic among workers. Wireless station planned to serve Eureka Nevada

Eureka will gain wireless telegraph service under plans by the Nevada Wireless Telegraph & Telephone Company formed at Yonopah. Masts rise 200 feet, power dynamo installed, with Bly and Tybo also to be connected. The wireless link aims to serve mining districts and speed news dispatch to outside cities and towns.
