11 mining claims owned by Whalen Copper Company near Alpha Eureka County were sold at public sheriff sale in front of the Court House to satisfy a District Court judgment for Daniel Davies. The Prince of Wales claim led at 1800 dollars with the remaining ten totaling 490.22 dollars, final sum 2280.82 dollars. Davies has six months to redeem.

Washington's Birthday was observed as a legal holiday in Eureka with the public school closed. No social functions occurred for the first time in years. A spring day followed the prior stormy weather. Real estate activity saw several fenced lots on North Main and North Buel streets change hands in the past 10 days as new owners plan summer land office business. W C Blair of Duckwater reported spring weather and dusty roads to Pinto and will haul water to Kawich. Lent will be late with Ash Wednesday March 8 Palm Sunday April 16 Good Friday April 21 Easter Sunday April 23.

George T. Myers prominent Memphis business man died January 27 1906 at age 65 after years of illness. He was brother to Mrs James P. Raine of Pine Valley Eureka County. His parents live on the Scotland County homestead. father 91 and mother 90. The Myers family totals 19 children with 140 descendants. Surviving are Joseph H. Myers of Memphis and Mrs Ed M. Allen of Great Falls Montana.

Mormon ranchers in the White River area entered the Kawich camp with produce, beef and hay as good times and high prices prevail. They asked 100 dollars a ton for hay but sold it at 300 dollars a ton. A Hot Creek rancher delivering beef to Kawich faced a temporarily filled market and offered his meat at 8 cents per quarter. Beef retails at 25 cents per pound.
