Secretary treasurer R M Holt says seven feet daily drift with three shifts under B L Talbot, aiming to connect with the 200 foot level to enable ore handling by gravity and lower mining costs.

Feeding Corn to McDermitt Stockmen in Snow
A carload of corn arrived for E Reinhart Company over the Western Pacific and will be hauled to McDermitt. Juan Jaca leads a freighting outfit with twenty eight animals to move 560 sacks to stockmen in McDermitt. Heavy snow required extra teams to push loads over the road. The corn will feed sheep and this is the fourth car hauled to McDermitt this winter.

Consolidation plan for Hamburg mine with Uncle Sam holdings
Engineer L. J. Hexenshire reports to the California State Commission on acquiring the Hamburg properties for consolidation with the Uncle Sam mines. The Hamburg mine lies on Raspert mountain in Kurdka district and includes two patented claims, with ore in limestone lode features intersecting north south fissures. The Hamburg shaft reaches 860 feet with four levels and 8000 feet of development. all main tunnels and inclines are caved near surface, requiring reopening. The two properties align with Uncle Sam through a main haulage tunnel to connect with the Friday Incline, enabling ore to be milled at the Uncle Sam mill. Historic output through 1890 totaled about $500,000 in gold, silver, and lead. estimates suggest 30,000 to 50,000 tons of ore remaining with values between $10 and $16 per ton, with mining costs not to exceed $7 per ton for profitable operations. The acquisition is said to more than double Uncle Sam Consolidated Mining’s holdings.

Coastwide storm isolates Eureka
After several days of heavy wind the Pacific Coast storm reached Eureka causing rail service to be out for a week between Palisade and Wareke. Snow reached two feet to the north end of the county and drifted, with ice on tracks delaying through trains. The town remained provisioned though malls and outside news were scarce. trains resumed with limited passengers and cargo. Fred Bartine returned with mail after a four day trip from Tonkin amid three feet of snow on the Tonkin summit. Weather began to thaw slowly as a local system moved on.

Former Eureka Man Harold Kind Feared Ill in New York
