Nevada Assembly approves Barnes bill to end Nevada dumping ground

In Carson City on February 7 the Nevada Assembly passed by 30 to 23 a measure to abolish the law that allowed mismatched persons to come and air family troubles, restoring the state's honor. The vote followed stirring Assembly scenes and included delay tactics by opponents. The Senate is expected to back the measure, while a companion tax bill and a state highway proposal also surfaced. The session sustained Governor Oddie's vetoes and moved to reconsider Senator Arnold's slot machine bill, with a road project funded at 50,000 to be built by convict labor across multiple counties.

Bulgars and Greeks Amaze the Powers at Dardanelles

European experts marvel at Bulgarians and Greeks attacking Turkish forts guarding the Dardanelles and threatening Constantinople. If the forts fall the Greek fleet could enter the Sea of Marmara, jeopardizing Ottoman rule in Europe and reshaping control of Constantinople. A San Francisco Examiner analysis notes the historical aim of shielding the straits and the potential end of empire if sea passage is achieved.
