Casualties May 610 to Dec 19: officers 210 dead, 743 wounded. men 4 917 dead, 20 337 wounded. 402 missing. 16 percent of wounded died. 19 percent recovered in field. 65 percent sent to Japan. Most wounds from rifle fire.

Australian Wool Imports Exceed Past Seasons Inbound to San Francisco
Deputy Collector Farley reports Australian wool arrivals at San Francisco for the current season surpass previous years with 4560 bales received valued at 351,824. All wool shipped in bond for Eastern trade and duty of 165,890 is being collected. The Sonoma brought 596 bales valued at 47,000 destined for Boston and 611 bales valued at 80,000 to Philadelphia.

New Revenue Bill Introduced in Senate by Williams
A revenue bill introduced in the Senate by Senator Williams proposes county assessors meet in Carson City to set state tax percentages. The rate would ease for 1906 and each year thereafter based on county average taxes over the prior five years. If departure is wanted, ten assessors must vote. The board would compute yearly state taxes and the controller would notify counties for semi annual payment to the state treasury, in full satisfaction of taxes. The lamp sum system is cited as trialed in Oregon and Idaho.
