Madison Hicks a well known miner and juror in the Patrick Casey murder trial was arrested in Goldfield Nevada on a grand larceny charge for high grading ore. Detectives Clarence Sage and Mike Cabalao arrested him in front of Carlos Aguilar’s assay office after Hicks allegedly dropped a sack of high grade Mohawk ore at the door. Bail set at $1000. Hicks could not post.
Washington January 27 Dr Harvey Wiley government chemist testified at a house hearing on the high cost of living. He showed fresh eggs sink in a 10 percent salt solution while cold storage eggs float. He said a hen’s lay date observed by an inspector proves freshness and warned against sellers calling eggs strictly fresh.
