Caliente Man Is Murdered Near Leith Lede Riot

A former Leith tent saloon owner Frank Raiz was assassinated Sunday night by Francisco Galindo, who fled. Galindo, a Mexican man about 35 with a gold tooth and a thigh wound, is described as troublesome and capable of speaking fair English. Raiz died by a gunshot to the head. a manhunt is underway. Health authorities order Sunday school closures due to contagious diseases. public schools close until January 2.

District Judges Share Equal Authority in Nevada Ruling

The Nevada Supreme Court ruled that one district judge cannot compel another district judge to perform a judicial act via mandamus. The case involved Judge Peter J. Somoza suing Judge Theron Stevens to force him to deed Goldfield townsite land to Edward Jennings. The court found Somoza lacked jurisdiction and that a judge does not outrank a fellow judge in the same court.

The Lincoln county split to form Clark County leaves Lincoln without a state senator within its borders while still maintaining representation in the upper legislature. Senator Syphus, drawn into Clark County by the division line, could not relocate yet was advised he remained eligible to serve the seat.

Woman Dies After 25 Foot Fall In Manhattan Shaft

Mrs J McAuliffe an elderly resident of Manhattan wandered into a prospect shaft and fell 25 feet to the bottom. She lay in the shaft all night as two small dogs kept vigil. Dr Garner treated her for a broken rib and other bruises. Though initial hope faded, her advanced age hindered recovery. She died Thursday morning at 4 o clock, after injuries sustained Monday night.
